Alex Barlow has devoted his practice to complex litigation on behalf of victims. Alex considers himself fortunate to have tried and won cases on behalf of a diverse range of plaintiffs – ranging from workingmen stricken with occupational cancer all the way to Fortune 500 companies. Currently, his specific areas of focus include pharmaceutical and medical device litigation on behalf of individual victims and governmental entities, representing victims of food poisoning, cases brought on behalf of catastrophically injured victims, and insurance litigation on behalf of wronged policyholders.

During his career Alex has won verdicts on behalf of his clients in the areas of toxic tort, catastrophic injury, and commercial litigation.

Currently, Alex is the partner in charge of over two thousand cases brought on behalf of women who have suffered serious injuries from transvaginal mesh devices. In this litigation, the Ethicon Litigation Plaintiff Steering Committee appointed Alex to the corporate discovery team and trial teams.

In pharmaceutical litigation, Alex is representing over a thousand male children who have developed gynecomastia as a result of taking Janssen Pharmaceuticals’ antipsychotic drug, Risperdal. Previously, Alex has represented the Attorneys General of eight states against GlaxoSmithKline over the mis-marketing of its blockbuster diabetes drug, Avandia. Alex also served as counsel for thousands of men and women who suffered cardiovascular injuries from ingesting Avandia. He also represented two quasi-governmental health and retirement entities in litigation against Merck over its pain management drug, Vioxx.

In Alex’s most interesting and challenging pro bono case, he facilitated the return parental visitation rights to the mother of two children after her ex-husband, residing with the children in Malaysia, cut off her access for five years in contravention of court orders.

Alex is a member of the State Bars of Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. He is a current Fellowship Member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the American Association for Justice, and a member of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. He is a past member of the Board of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and a member of its continuing legal education committee.

Alex earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree from the University of Texas as a participant in the prestigious Plan II honors program and his J.D. with honors from The University of Texas School of Law. In law school, Alex was the recipient of the George E. Seay Endowed Presidential Scholarship and was a member of the Order of the Coif, a national honorary society for law school students.
